Welcome Katherine Palmer, the Museum of Making Music's New Executive Director

Published on June 02, 2026

We are delighted to introduce Katherine Palmer as the next Executive Director of the Museum of Making Music.

An accomplished music museum leader and educator, Katherine joins the Museum this summer from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, where she served as the senior director of education and community engagement, overseeing the Taylor Swift Education Center. Her career also includes leadership roles at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix and international arts education initiatives around the world.

Katherine brings a deep belief in music's ability to inspire curiosity and foster connection, values that are central to the Museum of Making Music's mission.

"Music museums have the unique ability to connect generations, cultures, and communities through shared experiences," Katherine said. "The Museum of Making Music has built an incredible legacy of storytelling and engagement, and I'm honored to join the NAMM family and help shape the museum's future while expanding its impact and accessibility for audiences everywhere."

As we welcome Katherine, we also celebrate the remarkable legacy of the Museum's longtime executive director, Carolyn Grant, whose vision and dedication helped establish the Museum as a beloved destination for musical discovery and learning. Thanks to Carolyn's stewardship over the past 28 years, the Museum enters this new chapter with a strong foundation, a vibrant community of supporters, and tremendous momentum for the future.

We look forward to introducing Katherine to our members, supporters, volunteers, and visitors as she begins her role as Director this July. Please join us in welcoming her to the Museum of Making Music family!
